Religion
Transgender inclusion into religious orthodoxy is a challenge that an increasing number of organizations and denominations are addressing with an attitude of reconciliation. One key to resolution is education: a re-dedication to seek fundamental truth without prejudice. As science and psycho-social research merge with the Information Age, a growing number of religious faiths are re-examining text and context to confirm that these might indeed be inclusive--not exclusive--of the truth of human nature. The following sites or organizations are dedicated to addressing the challenge of reconciling orthodox faith and the LGBTQ faithful. (Please revisit this page to keep informed of progress in this important area.)

The mission of Faith In America, Inc. is the emancipation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from bigotry disguised as religious truth. The world’s great religious traditions practiced within the United States of America emphasize the love of neighbor as well as the love of God. Compassion, justice, freedom, and respect for the dignity of all people are their most authentic and noble expressions.

Religion has been a source of both solace and suffering for many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans. For while most LGBT Americans have been raised in an organized religion — and many continue to cherish their faith community — too many have been forced to leave those communities behind because of condemnation of lesbian, gay and bisexual people. And yet in recent years, a growing number of organized religious groups in the United States have issued statements officially welcoming lesbian, gay and bisexual people as members.
