“On Being Ourselves: A Transgender Perspective”
                                        by Claire Ruth Winter.
On Being Ourselves is a concise book (180 pages with diagrams) that presents a fascinating new look at the nature of human diversity: why a vast but socially obscured spectrum of identities—including transgender people—will always exist.
Part I offers a refreshingly intuitive analysis of human sexuality, enhanced by clear diagrams and the author’s personal experience. Part II provides a well-organized overview of the myriad forms of transgender expression, while Part III sheds light on the many kinds of relationships we can have with transgender people and how best to cope with and benefit from these.
Though relatively short, this book is surprisingly rich in content and is written in an engaging and sometimes witty style that draws you in from the beginning and keeps you reading with fascination to the end.
